Up Against the Wall

We are currently collating the last six months work for our first assessment of the year. This winter collection was inspired by the elegance of simplicity before being lovingly draped against a brick wall!

Thank you to Ewald for sending the above photograph from his studio. An inspiring photo for the New Year
2007 involved Green Britannia, YMCA NYC, Teacake, Amsterdam, a long hard summer, A placement in Paradise two pairs of very tired eyes and one broken powerbook. We hope 2008 will be as enjoyable, as we encounter the exciting finale of our university education and embark on our future.

Propaganda Pitch

Towards the end of last year we pitched our ideas to Propaganda, a Manchester based prop hire company, for a company re-brand and they have since decided to use our work. We will be working closely with them in the coming months. A big thank you to Jess for her support. Above is our first offering - colour scheme under discussion.

How many other people got pantone mugs?

After finding the film Helvetica in his stocking Rob spent Christmas day explaining why a film had been made about a typeface. Graham did nothing of any importance whatsoever.
We hope your festive period was enjoyable!

Clear, concise and forceful.

Paul Schuitema - Visual Organizer by Dick Maan
Our love affair with the Dutch continues and this book is fantastic. During the early stages of the twentieth century Paul Schuitema was one of the pioneers of New Typography and New Photography in the Netherlands. Along with Piet Zwart and Gerard Klijan they distinguished themselves by conveying the message in a clear, concise and forceful manner.
Five Stars - because his chairs are as good as his letters.

Great poster, great post.

We hope that all who received our Christmas poster enjoyed the knitted nativity seen and we would especially like to thank itsnicethat.com for featuring us on their blog. We have already found this site to be a great help from last summers post, in the promotion of our work.

ABZ - More Alphabets and Other Signs Edited by Julian Rothenstein and Mel Godding.
This delightful number contains one of the most eclectic mixes of full alphabets and applied typography from the avant-garde periodicals and other curious sources.
Four Stars - buy it.
Catapult 2007 at the Urbis
Technical difficulties aside this selection of work from the best of the North West is definitely something to go and see.
It would have been nice to see people claim their space in a more forthright manner. Highlights included work by our friend Heather Williams and we look forward to seeing Matthew Williamson's forthcoming exhibition 'Ten Years in Fashion'.
